MAWDC Monthly Meeting: May

  • 04 May 2021
  • 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
  • virtual via Zoom

It's been 17 years in the making - this is the year of the periodic cicada for Washington D.C.  But what does this have to do with fungi you ask?  To hear the answer, please be sure to join us this month for a great lecture called 'The Zombie Ant Apocalypse' as WVU professors Brian Lovett and Matt Kasson tell us about fungi which attack insects, including mind controlling cordyceps and the 'Flying Salt Shaker of Death' that preys on periodic cicadas.  Need I say more?  This is going to an apocalyptic evening!

And as if the zombie apocalypse weren't eccentric enough, we're also going to hear a quick word from JoAnn Hill, author of Secret Washington, DC: A Guide to the Weird, Wonderful and Obscure.  MAWDC being a little wierd, a little obscure, and completely wonderful has an entry in this new release.

We'll be virtual again this month, via Zoom.  Here are the login credentials, including passcode should you need it.
