At last, the fall rains have produced a profusion of mushrooms!  There were at least 100 specimens on the tables at the Mushroom Fair last weekend at Brookside Gardens.  On short walks this week I have seen hen of the woods, chicken mushrooms, mica caps, agaricus, reddening Lepiota, wine caps, aborted Entoloma, honey mushroom, and Amanita muscaria.

MAW’s foray chair, Jon Ellifritz will lead a mushroom identification foray on Sunday, October 16 in Northern Virginia just off the beltway starting at 10:00 AM.  Non-MAW members on MAWDC Meetup may participate, subject to online payment of $5 per person charge (or becoming a member of MAW online).
