  • For participants who are members of the MAWDC meetup but not MAW members.

Registration is closed

There will be a foray Sunday morning at 11 AM until about 2 PM . The foray is open to MAWDC Meetup members - registration in advance required to obtain detailed directions, and pay the $5 per person participation fee (not required for MAW Members).  If you join MAW today on line, I will send you the details by email Saturday evening.

Rain and more rain!  Whoo-hoo!  Looks to be a very good chanterelle season coming up. They are out all around us - probably a lot of other things to see as well.  MAW VP John Harper will be the primary foray leader.

Note delayed starting time at 11:00, not the usual 10:00.  An hour later than usual to accommodate an early morning side trip for those who are interested - Butler's Orchard is advertising excellent tart cherry, blueberry and black raspberry picking this weekend .  (You might want to go there before or after the foray.)  Bulter's is about 10 miles north of our meeting place at Lake Needwood - http://www.butlersorchard.com/# about 25 minutes' drive north of the foray location:  (22336 Davis Mill Rd, Germantown, MD.)  Butlers is open Sunday morning at 8:30 until 4:30, and I am definitely going to get my supply of cherries for 4th of July pie.

A car pool sign up has been created to cover both destinations - just add your comments to describe your schedule and location if you can provide a ride to others: A link will be provided with registration information. Unfortunately, the metro does not run until 8:AM on Sunday, so pickups at metro stations along the way to pick before the foray would not be practical for most.

After the foray ends, I hope to spend some time camped out at some picnic tables in the park looking at what we found, and maybe cooking some chanterelles and other things for some tasting.

Bug spray is highly recommended - deer ticks are active.
