Mushroom Identification Walk
Cunningham Falls State Park
Friday July 19th 10am-1pm
Foray Leader: Matt Cohen
I'll be leading a mushroom identification walk for MAW members as well as the general public for Cunningham Falls State Park. The walk will focus on basic identification with discussion about the ecology of mushrooms as well as edibility/toxicity. We will start on the lower trail which is a mostly even surface and about a 1/2 mile walk to the falls. We will probably return to the parking lot along the cliff trail, which is a rocky much more challenging hike of about 1 mile. If you don't want to hike the cliff trail, you can easily retrace your steps to the parking lot on the lower trail. Here's a map of the trails and parking lot. The Park charges an entrance fee of $3/person for Marylanders, $5 for out-of-state. Click here to register. Registration is optional.
The address is 14274 William Houck Dr. Thurmont, MD 21788.
Meet at the small parking lot (holds about 20 cars) by the Falls Trailhead. It'll be on your left after you pass by the entrance gate. If you can't find me, you're probably at the large parking lot near the lake. Text/call my mobile if you're having trouble finding us 202-841-1874 (reception is spotty in the park)

If the small parking lot is full, you can park here at the large parking lot and use the connector trail
